Philosophy of Kundalini

The Yoga of Awareness
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."
(Carl Jung, author of the Psychology of Kundalini Yoga)
“Kundalini Yoga is the science to unite the finite with infinity.“
(Yogi Bhajan)
The goal of Kundalini Yoga is to release and raise the energy from the root of the spine, up the spine through the Chakras to bring balance throughout the entire system.
The energy at the base of the spine is the Devine feminine energy (Shakti). By awakening the Devine feminine energy that is coiled up at the root of the spine, it rises up the spine bringing balance into the Chakras and harmony into the mind, body and soul. As it rises up it meets the Devine masculine energy at the crown of the head (Shiva).
The main objective of Kundalini is to awaken the full human potential of awareness in each person. As we purify and detoxify the mind, body and soul we create space within and allow room for expansion of awareness to our full potential and unlimited self.
Kundalini is a practice that uses Mantras, Pranayama, Kriyas, Bandhas, Mudras and Meditation. It is normal in a Kundalini practice to dance, shake, jump, stretch and move the body in a very rapid and intense way, normally connected with a Pranayama.
The aim of this is to release tension in the mind, body and soul to allow the energy to move with ease and abundance throughout the mind, body and soul.
The Kundalini philosophy teaches that each person is a centre for Brahman, the energy of all creation, and in connecting with this energy the ego would detach from the world around us, allowing the person to connect with universal consciousness.
To achieve this one must awaken the snake at the base of the spine as to coil up to the divine Consciousness (higher self).
Why wear white?
It is a yogic belief that the colour white is reflective and will reflect negative energy away from the physical and energy bodies.
Yogi Bhajan claimed that our auras extend to around 9 feet away from the physical body and that the reflection from the white clothes extend up to 10 feet from the body, giving us complete protection from other peoples negative, harmful energy.
According to yogic beliefs it is important to protect your own positive energy to inspire others to bring balance, happiness, love, joy, well-being, and prosperity into one manifestation of what we call life.
Most practitioners wear white as this is the balance of all colours and is regarded a state of meditation in its self. Yogi Bhajan noticed the effect the colours have on the consciousness and encouraged his students to wear white. He believed that by wearing white a person can expand their auric radiance which helps filter out negative energies or influences from the outside world.

Why is Kundalini dangerous
Kundalini is the most dangerous practice of yoga because it is the most potent. what is the most potent in the most dangerous if not handled properly. This is why in Kundalini you need supervision and guidance at all times.
Kundalini is the coiled up snake at the base of the spine, when it is not moving you don't even know its there, but when it moves, it reveals the power within you.
When you have high energy you have higher states of perception, that is the what the whole system of yoga is aimed at, to heighten ones perception.
Let's talk about energy as it is (electricity) and most of it is coiled up at the root of the spine and the system has not been prepared for the electricity to start moving up the spine and through the Chakras. All of a sudden this massive surge starts moving rapidly through the system. The system will be damaged if it is not prepared in the correct manner and sometimes the damage cannot be reversed.
This is how fast the energy can move when practising Kundalini and this is why it is considered the most dangerous practice of yoga because of how potent it is. Other styles of yoga are a lot less potent and therefore safer to practise alone or with little guidance.
People want to sprint before they can walk, but this is not a track event and should not be treated as such. We are working with the inner systems of the mind, body and soul and this should be treated with the upmost respect.
