Now the journey has started

Now you are starting to learn and gain more knowledge of Kundalini with us – from its origins to the modern day, the way Kundalini is practised has not really changed that much over the years and stays true to the wisdom in which it was created.

As you continue to grow into your Kundalini practice keep in mind that this journey will never end its life long learning and it takes time to become familiar with this technology, there are over 2000 Kriyas and 5000 meditations that is how deep and long this ancient wisdom has been practised.

San Nam Kundalini School is here to give you guidance on your journey into the unknown, to keep your feet grounded and bodies and mind balanced.

When you start your Kundalini journey with us, let your practise meet you exactly where you are. No need to force anything at all, we all have to start somewhere and exactly where you are right now is perfect.

So what’s next, do I jump right in or do I take it slowly? Well that is up to you, only you can know this for yourself and this is where the fun begins. Starting to learn how to listen into that inner wisdom and truth knowing what is the right thing to do. If you join us here at Sat nam Kundalini School you will learn how to practise this ancient wisdom, science and technology.

Whatever you decide is perfectly fine. It is your journey.

First: Start breathing

Start to learn the basics of the breath that is used in most Kundalini Kriyas:

  • Sniff and throw

  • Breath of Fire

Start with these two breathing techniques which are the roots of breathwork in Kundalini. They will help take your practice to the next level.

Start slow. As you become more comfortable and confident you will be able to breathe deeper, stronger and with the Breath of Fire more rapid. Take your time and enjoy the process.

Second: Start moving

Start to learn some of the more commonly used and very powerful Kriyas like

  • Sat Kriya

  • Fists of Anger

  • Rock and Roll

Some Kriyas are more difficult than others, but all for the most part incorporate a movement with a breathing technique. Some come with chanting, and others come with both.

Again start slow and work your way into a faster and more powerful rhythm, but always listen to your own inner wisdom! If something doesn’t feel good then don’t do it.

On our page about Kriyas you find the above listed ones with video tutorials, as well as many other Kriyas to choose from. I strongly advice to watch the full video to gain as much information as possible.

Second: Start singing/chanting

Lets start with the two most used Mantras in Kundalini:

To open a practice chant "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo" three times.

To close a practice chant "Sat Nam".

Sound is very important in Kundalini yoga. So begin as you mean to go on by bringing beautiful and uplifting music into your life through Kundalini. The beauty with Mantras is that you can sing them anytime to bring the higher vibrations into your very being, lifting, opening and moving energy through the body with music.

Mantras are not about sounding good. It's all about vibration and has nothing to do with you having the voice of an angel. You can always start by just humming and as you grow more confident you can start singing.

Rule number one: What other people think of you is none of your business. So chant and sing, because your well-being depends on it.

Third: Start wearing white

Most practitioners of Kundalini wear white as this is the balance of all colours and is regarded a state of meditation in itself. Yogi Bhajan noticed the effect the colours have on the consciousness and encouraged his students to wear white. He believed that by wearing white a person can expand their auric radiance which helps filter out negative energies or influences from the outside world.
